Happy New Year! I hope everyone had a great holiday season. We are getting back into our “normal” routine, whatever normal is. My oldest daughter went back to her dorm this morning at ASU. Insert sad face and some tears. My youngest daughter starts back to school on Tuesday. Insert sad face. No tears because she still lives at home 🙂 My Dad is here visiting until January 20th, so not quite our normal routine but we are happy to have him here. I am seriously dreading having to break up with my current situation of sleeping later in my comfy bed routine. All things eventually have to come to an end. C’est La Vie! I have some goals for 2018 to share with you. 🙂
Thoughts on the New Year:
I did not make any resolutions. They are not really my thing. I would rather set goals and make plans. They are easier for me to obtain and I like that. I have been eating carbs, sugar, and crap since the Christmas celebrations started, through NYE and still today. My body is angry and telling me to go back to its happy place of low carb. And so I will. I am currently smoking a brisket, tri-tip and chicken thighs for meat this week. I wish you could smell the food in the smoker. Yum! Bring on the yummy protein and delicious fats. Bacon, bacon, bacon… hehehehe!
My Peloton app on my phone reminded me that I haven’t ridden in a while, so it’s also time to get on my bike. I don’t have the fancy bike from them, but I use the app and enjoy the music and rides. It’s time to move it move it!
I have a 3-day weight routine I generally follow and have fallen off the holiday schedule for that too. Wow- what a relaxing break I took from everything! Time for Alexa Jean Brown to whip this body back into shape. I love her workouts because I can do all 3 components- abs, lower and upper and it doesn’t cause me to have an autoimmune flare up!
This year I wanted to add something fun to my life in the exercise department. If you know me, you know I don’t love to workout. I want to try Ariel yoga or this class called bungee workouts. I am so afraid to go to this class with thoughts of dying and dangling by the bungee cord or injuring myself. Grace and flexibility are not always my strong points. I might rope a few friends into trying this with me. Maybe after some mimosas or shots of tequila?
Enough about my food/workout stuff….
Goals for GGGF:
Continue to provide more of the same. More recipes, travel information and videos. To be better about writing on the blog not just using social media. I really struggle in this area so I am going to try to improve! Somedays I have so much to say but don’t know how to write it when I sit down to do it.
We are looking at starting cooking classes for people who want to learn how to cook gluten-free, or just cook in general. That is hopefully going to be starting soon! I am going to ask a few friends to be guinea pigs and help with feedback to iron out the crinkles in it.
More live Facebook, Instagram or YouTube recipes or just showing how I make what we are having to eat.
My last goal is to finish my thermal cooker cookbook! I can’t wait to share it with you all! I love my thermal cooker and it’s awesome for so many places. We use ours for boating, camping, picknicks, tailgating, luncheons etc…… You can look on my Amazon Christmas shopping list if you want the link to buy them.
I hope you have a great rest of your weekend!
