Today is Halloween and it calls for a spooky dinner! My spooky eyeball meatballs are a great protein to balance out all of the candy tonight! They are fast to make and delicious. If your kiddos don’t like green olives you can pick them out or use black olives if they like them.
We are handing out candy tonight and I am excited to see all of the neighborhood kiddos in their cute costumes. I bought full-size bars for the best costumes this year! We also have our Teal pumpkin project treats ready to go. Vampire teeth and fun pencils are my nonfood item treats. I also purchased enjoy life allergen friendly candy bars, which I have to say are delicious. They have milk, dark and rice milk crunch flavors and I like them all. Becoming Empty Nesters:
I usually host a neighborhood get together in our yard with chili and fall sangria, which is known to be dangerous, however with one kid in college and the other one turning 16 in a few days we decided to pass on the party and hand out candy from home for the first time in many many many years. It is definitely a time of transition in our home. We love watching our almost 19-year old (her birthday is on Friday) grow and find her own way at college but we also miss her being 5. We are trying to enjoy all of our days left with our other teenager before she flys the nest in a couple years, without being overbearing because we try not to parent like that.
It is still weird to talk about vacations and events and not know whether all of our kids will be joining us or none! It is exciting at the same time, to look ahead and know that we are still crazy in love and besties and excited for the next adventures after the girls are off on their own.
I hope you enjoy this spooktacular recipe and have a great Halloween!
